Words cannot describe the splendor of the impromptu daytrip in the high country ride around Ella. So here goes a visual rundown of the day.
Bandarawela main drag.
Tea plantation workers (mostly Tamil) near Haputale.
Tea factory, Haputale.
Lunch time snack in Haputale. Altitude is 1.431. Views from town are great.
Great cycling on paved backroads through the tea plantations.
Haystack Hair Woman
See them monkeys?
Monkeys with lipstick and mascara…
Sri Lankan colors.
Cricket is huge in Sri Lanka (here: Bandarawela).
A few days later, on my birthday, April 6th, the national cricket team actually won the T20 World Cup. Congrats!
Ella downtown.
Power failure happened again tonight in Ella. There’s something soothing about these blackouts leaving towns totally blind. Maybe it’s just because it’s different. Because it doesn’t happen at home.
Whoa! What a day! (I did actually try to describe the splendor of the day)…
