Had a pretty bad night at the hooker hotel. No sudden midnight hooker calls or anything, just too hot (no fan), too many mosquitoes. So I’m up early, ready for my last day in Sri Lanka. Don’t really feel like leaving this fabulous island.
Galle Face Green, Colombo’s promenade along the Indian Ocean:
I spend a few hours roaming around Colombo with very few things on the agenda, apart from the odd market and temple.
Below: Manning Market.
Enjoying the last rays of goodness…
Graveyard and coconut palms along the backroad between Colombo and Negombo west of the Negombo Lagoon.
Lunch time in Negombo.
The Dutch Canal.
Outrigger canoes north of Negombo.
My flight back home (via Doha, Qatar) leaves at 9PM tonight. In the dusk I ride to the airport. On my way the odometer on my bike computer turns from 3-digits to 4-digits. More than 1.000 km on this great, great island. The air seems fresh and soothing. Sri Lanka’s been truly fantastic. Will come back.
The left luggage at the airport has kept my bike box for the last two weeks. It cost me 9 USD and saved me a lot of possible trouble in finding a new, suitable box etc.
So this is it…adios Sri Lanka.
